The Two Halves of Our Lives

The first half of the race is about measuring up, making the mark – will I overtake the next runner? will I be overtaken?

The next half is about maturing into the role befitting of a real runner – will I have what it takes to transform the pain? will I be able to endure till the finish line?

Isn’t that what the two halves of our lives are like? The first half of the human journey is all external. The second half is at the deepest level of our soul, echoing what Dante said “In the middle of life’s way, I found myself in a dark wood.”
